Propolis Mat

Description

The Propolis Mat is used to trap propolis for an easy and clean harvest. Propolis is the red or brownish red sticky resinous substance produced by bees to use as glue or seal up holes and cracks in the beehive. Beekeepers collect propolis to sell as it can be used in a variety of natural remedies.

This is made from high quality and flexible food grade plastic. A durable and cost effective option that will last you a while before another replacement.

To use, install the propolis mat where you would usually put your hive mat or just on top of the box.  The bees will fill the holes of the mat with propolis. For best results, open your outer cover to allow some light into the hive. The bees will fill the mat with propolis to shut out the light.

To collect the propolis, simply remove the trap and put it inside a plastic bag and freeze overnight. Twist or bang the trap inside the bag to remove the propolis.
